Catwalk In Public Space During Art Fair in Basel
June 4, 2009Reh4, organisation for the support of subculture in Basel, will hold the second volume of “Catwalk in Public Space”. Young fashion designers will have the opportunity to show their collections to the public – open air and in the street.
Feldbergstrasse in Basel is the center of designers’ and artists’ potential in Basel. You find here a number of shops dedicated to giving a platform to young, fresh and uprising designers. There are double as many exhibitors than in 2008. You’ll see assortments and presentations from Airasmus, By Coming Soon, Claudia Güdel, Deleni, K-Pony (Peter Müller), Le Magaz-1, marinsel, Spunk und Riviera.
The catwalk covers a hundred meters of sidewalk. When taking place in 2008, the public interest was remarkable. Click here to see a video of the first Catwalk in Public Space.
Catwalk in Public Space II will take place on 11th June 2009, starting from 7pm until 11pm which is when the doors of the art fairs in Basel close for the night, so it’s definitely a nice and interesting thing to do after a day at the fair.

Art Capital Of The World For One Week: Art40, LISTE and Scope in Basel
June 3, 2009Art Basel, the world’s premier international art show for contemporary and modern art, will open its doors for the fourtieth time from 10th to 14th June 2009 in Messe Basel. But there are lots of other exhibitions and events going on in Basel during that time. Here’s what is going on in Basel during Art40:
Art40
The main fair takes place at Basel Messe. The Vernissage is on Tuesday, 9th June for invited guests only. Art40 opens its doors to the public on Wednesday, 10th June.

LISTE
LISTE was the first alternative art fair to take place besides Art Basel. Since 1996, LISTE has presented new galleries and the latest trends in art. Galleries exhibiting in LISTE are in general less than five years old. LISTE is one of the world’s most important art discoverer fairs. LISTE takes place at Sudhaus Warteck. The vernissage is on Monday, 8th June 2009. It opens its doors to the public on Tuesday, 9th June until 14th June.

Scope
Scope is the youngest of the Basel art fairs. The focus, here, is not only on the art itself but on the visitor, too. Scope exhibits young and, in general, unknown artists. Doors are open from 9th June to 14th June 2009.

Volta 5
Volta Show is dedicated to galleries which work with the most exciting emerging artists of the contemporary. It is designed to bridge a gap between Art and the other art fairs in Basel. The fifth edition of Volta5 takes place in the stunning Markthalle building, one of Europe’s largest cupolas. Definitely worth a visit! Doors are open from Monday, 8th June, 4pm.

Pecha Kucha Zürich neu im Seefeld Razzia
June 2, 2009Am 29. Juni 2009 findet die fünfte Zürcher Pecha Kucha Night statt. Die Besucherzahlen stiegen während der ersten vier Nächte so stark an, dass der Veranstaltungsort nun gewechselt werden muss. Neu findet Pecha Kucha nicht mehr im Cabaret Voltaire sondern im Seefeld Razzia statt.
Pecha Kucha heisst soviel wie “Geschwätz”. Jeder Vortragende hat die Gelegenheit, zu 20 Powerpoint-Folien je 20 Sekunden zu sprechen. Ein Vortrag dauert also exakt 6:40 Minuten. Pecha Kucha wurde in Japan erfunden und wird seither in alle Welt exportiert: bereits in 199 Städten auf der ganzen Welt wird Pecha Kucha durchgeführt.
Jeder kann bei Pecha Kucha mitmachen. Ein Mail an die Veranstalter genügt, um sich zu bewerben. Und vielleicht stehst auch Du schon bald auf der Bühne, mit Deinem Projekt, Deinem Anliegen, Deiner Story.
