Young Designers’ Mall in Basel: Sixty Days to go.

July 15, 2009

Young Designers’ Mall has announced the definitive date for the opening event. Also, opening hours and first numbers as to how many slots are already booked have been published.

It’s only just some more than sixty days away: in Basel, the first Mall for young designers will open on 4th September 2009. The reason for this specific date is many of the designers and shops releasing their fall collection in September. The Mall and the opening event are a good opportunity to present the new collections.

Sacha Roche, founder of the Mall, has informed about opening hours, regular events and has revealed the number of already booked slots, too. Over sixty slots are currently booked and they are getting more and more as time runs out. There will be no issues concerning space, though: the Mall’s construction allows for constant expansion. Sacha Roche has announced the revealing of the list of designers for this week.

The Mall’s bar will definitely be an eyecatcher: thebigbox Bar by Kreon, a transportable ready-made bar in an overseas container. The bar generally opens before the stores and until two hours after the shops are closed. “I see the bar as an afterwork location” says Roche. One day each week, a live band will play some sets, and every evening, there is a DJ.

The Mall will form one end of a design strip which connects NT Areal with Feldbergstrasse and Johanniterbrücke, where you find Marinsel, Riviera, Airasmus and other design shops. The result is an Avenue of Young Design crossing the entire design district of Basel.

Opening hours of the Mall will be as follows:
Tue / Wed 4 – 8 pm
Thu / Fri 4 – 10 pm
Sat / Sun 12 – 10 pm
